In an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody, Sen. Ted Cruz accused the sitting president of having a “Messiah complex,” and in a pretty overt stab at the current Republican frontrunner, accused Donald Trump of the same malady.
This election is not about any one person, any one individual who believes he or she will make America great. You know what, for seven years we’ve had a president in the White House who has had a Messiah complex.
Curiously, in the same interview, Cruz also ripped into Trump for his willingness to reach across the aisle and negotiate with Democrats. “If you think the problem with Republican leadership is that they haven’t been willing enough to cut deals, then maybe you ought to vote for Donald,” Cruz said.
So is Trump a single-minded self-proclaimed Messiah who wants to accomplish everything by fiat, or is he a consensus builder all too willing to water down his principles to secure a good deal? Depending on the question, according to Sen. Cruz, he’s both.
