During an appearance on CNN’s Situation Room today, Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) used some slightly colorful language regarding the confirmation battles going on in the Senate over some of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet nominations.
Asked by host Wolf Blitzer if he believed that Democratic Senators may have some legitimate questions about a number of the nominees they’ve been fighting against, Kennedy simply said “no.” When pressed on whether he thinks none of the questions Democrats have need to be answered, the GOP lawmaker stated that he felt all of the answers have been provided.
Kennedy went on to claim that all of Trump’s nominees will be confirmed, including Secretary of Education hopeful Betsy DeVos and SCOTUS pick Neil Gorsuch. Blitzer then wanted to know if he believed it was the job of a Senator to properly vetted.
“This idea that these nominees have not been properly vetted, that they haven’t bee asked tough questions is just nonsense,” Kennedy responded. “That’s nonsense on a stick.”
