The Governor of Michigan Releases All of His Flint Water Crisis Emails
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder released all his emails on the Flint water crisis late this afternoon amid questions about his administration dropping the ball.
First off, this email is getting quite a lot of attention tonight. In the email, Snyder chief of staff Dennis Muchmore talks about how the water concerns are being turned into a “political football… trying to shift responsibility to the state”:
There are a bunch of press releases within the batch of emails about the water crisis, including the April 2014 announcement that the city will start using water from the Flint River, as well as a few emails featuring talking points about the crisis.
This email shows some back-and-forth over the state government providing water filters to residents:
This one shows Muchmore lamenting how residents are “looking for someone to blame” amid a “swirl of misinformation”:
This last email is from Dan Wyant, who ran the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality before resigning last month. In it, he says rather bluntly, “we made a mistake”:
