You might have heard recently that the media’s trust/approval numbers have reached all-time lows. Well, now we have more numbers to quantify that perception.
A new NBC/WSJ poll checks the approval and disapproval ratings for various individuals, two places, and three groups: the media, the GOP, and the Democratic party.
And if you can believe it, the highest-approved on the list is Canada. No, seriously. The nation of Canada has a net approval of 72 (75% approve, 3% disapprove).
Right behind Canada is President Obama with 51-39 and the nation of Mexico with 38-26.
The presidential candidates don’t exactly fare that well in this poll––Hillary Clinton has a net approval of -15 and Donald Trump‘s is -33––though their running mates barely manage to remain in the positives (+7 for Tim Kaine, +1 for Mike Pence).
But right underneath Trump is the news media, with 19 percent approval and 59 percent disapproval. Yes, the media is more hated than Trump.
In fact, the media is the second-to-last on the list, right above one name: Vladimir Putin.
So just to be clear, the media is hated more than Trump but not as much as Putin.
You’re welcome, America.
