The Stars of Big Bang Theory Are Taking Pay Cuts so Their Female Co-Stars Can Earn More
The five stars of The Big Bang Theory, who have been with the show since season one, have, according to Variety, agreed to take a pay cut for the upcoming seasons so that two of their female co-stars can get raises.
Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Kunal Nayyar, and Simon Helberg currently earn $1 million per episode, compared to Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch who joined the show in season three. They both have significant roles on the show, but currently earn $200,000 per episode.
According to Variety‘s report, multiple sources have said that the original cast members have agreed to making $100,000 less each per episode to give Bialik and Rauch $500,000 raises extra, which would bring each actress’s pay up to $450,000 per episode.
Deadline previously reported that the actresses are seeking parity, which of course this arrangement is not. But, it would be a start.
