Reports today have broadened the list of movie theater chains not screening The Interview to the top five theater chains in North America. AMC Theaters, Regal Entertainment, Cinemark, Carmike Cinemas, and Cineplex Entertainment (the top five on the entire continent) have all decided against screening, according to multiple reports out today.
Sony had already given movie theaters permission not to screen the movie if they don’t want to, and the biggest ones all caved after hackers anonymously made some threats promising 9/11-style events in movie theaters that the Department of Homeland Security said were not credible.
Bow Tie Cinemas, another movie theater chain on the top 10 list, has also decided to pull the movie, and California theater chain ArcLight Cinemas won’t be showing it either.
Which means that either you’re gonna have to rely on smaller theater chains to see it (assuming they don’t cave) or pray that Sony decides to make this the biggest VOD release in history.
