The View had a good chuckle about the bizarre tape in which journalist Bob Woodward got President Donald Trump to admit he knew about Woodward’s desire to talk to the president for his new book, Fear.
“Bob Woodward tried to get the guy in the White House to tell his side of the story in the book,” Whoopi Goldberg explained. “But it seems that he can’t quite get the story straight. Which is kind of tough. But, please listen to this audio that Woodward released.”
The show then cut to the now-famous audio of Woodward speaking to Trump about whether he knew about the book, and he says no one spoke to him, but then it turns out that someone spoke to him, and that someone was Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC).
When Trump admitted in the tape that Graham had said something about it, the panel burst out laughing – except for new View co-host Abby Huntsman.
“You can pretend that this doesn’t bother people, but I think these things are starting to bother people,” Goldberg said as Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin giggled.
“I don’t think people are sitting and reading this book and saying, I’m going to make my decision who I’m voting for based on this book,” Huntsman protested. “They know he’s a different style. He speaks differently… I would be surprised if this sways any of his core base.”
“But you make a good point,” she said to Hostin. “There’s a big chunk of this country that feel like they don’t have a home right now.”
“Let’s always remember that three million more people voted for Hillary Clinton,” Hostin replied, to strong applause.
