The View Slams Justin Timberlake’s Super Bowl Halftime Performance: ‘So Off-Tone’
Much of the Monday morning quarterbacking on this day after the Super Bowl has centered not on anything related to the game, but rather, Justin Timberlake‘s halftime show — which featured a tribute to Prince via projector.
The View didn’t think too much of Timberlake’s tribute, or the performance as a whole. Sunny Hostin referenced Prince’s reported view (shared by Shiela E.) that he found such tributes “demonic.”
“I agree with that,” Joy Behar said. “Demonic.”
Hostin added, “It felt like you were at a party as opposed to a performance.”
Ana Navarro, filling in for Sara Haines, called out Timberlake for a wardrobe malfunction.
“I was so distracted by what he was wearing that I couldn’t even look at the performance,” Navarro said. She added that Timberlake’s ensemble, “looked like a paint-by-numbers thing.”
Meghan McCain shared her take that Timberlake was the wrong man at the wrong time.
“I didn’t think he was really of the moment,” McCain said. She added, “There’s so many incredible artists that have done a lot of gutsy interviews and said a lot of gutsy things and had a lot of really amazing albums. And I just thought it was so off-tone with where we have been.”
“Bruno Mars wasn’t there,” Whoopi Goldberg added. “And that’s what we needed.”
