‘They Did. It Wasn’t’: Bernie Burns Trump For Calling on His Voters to Hold ‘Biggest’ Rally ‘Of Them All’

This morning, President Donald Trump took to Twitter to encourage his supporters to have a rally of their own. It appears this is a response to the large protests and marches that have occurred since his inauguration, starting with the Women’s March and continuing with other large-scale nationwide demonstrations.

After sending out this tweet, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) shot back with a very solid Twitter burn, referencing a very sore spot for the president.

As you may recall, the day after Trump’s inauguration, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was sent out to brief the press about the size of the president’s inauguration crowd. Following comparisons between Barack Obama’s 2009 crowd and Trump’s — along with the just-held Women’s March — and the media noticing sparse crowds at the inaugural parade, Spicer proclaimed that Trump had the largest audience to witness an inauguration in history.

Trump and his administration would continue to insist afterwards that more people viewed his inauguration than any other president, despite ample evidence to the contrary.
