‘This Is An Act of Terror’: Hillary Calls For Action on Guns In Response to Orlando
Hillary Clinton released a new statement in response to the troubling details that have emerged on the deadly shooting at a gay nightclub last night.
Clinton and her presidential rival Donald Trump offered deep sympathies on Twitter as they watched the developments unfold on the extremist leanings of the perpetrator behind the Orlando carnage. Trump took the attack as credit for his hard-line approach to terror and Muslims in America, and now, Clinton has responded with an expanded message that affirms the shooting was “an act of terror.”
“We can say for certain that we need to redouble our efforts to defend our country from threats at home and abroad,” Clinton said. “It also means refusing to be intimidated and staying true to our values.”
Taking note of the shooter’s homophobia and his attack on a gay venue, Clinton addressed the LGBT community and said that “hate has absolutely no place in America.” She finished off her statement by saying that America’s deadliest mass shooting ever was the latest sign that gun control laws are needed to keep “weapons of war” out of criminal hands.
