‘This President Flat-Out Lied!’: Bob Beckel Goes Off to Tucker Carlson on Trump and Sweden

Fox’s Tucker Carlson appeared on The Five this afternoon to discuss the controversy between President Trump and Sweden that his show played a pretty significant part in.

Carlson reiterated that he thinks Trump should “always be accurate and clear” because he’s the president, but that the media outrage is “obscuring a much more important conversation” about assimilation.

Bob Beckel went off and said, “This president flat-out lied!” He asked Carlson why Trump just lied.

Carlson mentioned Trump said, “look at last night” and didn’t specifically call it a terror attack, but Beckel said that’s basically the impression his words gave off.

Tom Shillue asked Carlson why journalists were so eager to write up Trump’s erroneous statement instead of asking him what he meant. Carlson said it’s pretty obvious why.

The Swedish embassy in the U.S. dryly reacted to Trump’s admission he was talking about something he saw on Fox.
