Because it’s a Friday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney took questions today about Justin Bieber. I wish to God I was kidding. As you know, the White House petition to deport Bieber has collected more than enough signatures to warrant an official response, so, of course, everyone is dying to know what the White House would have to say. And by “everyone,” I mean NBC News White House Correspodent Peter Alexander, who couldn’t help but ask Carney about the petition to deport the troubled pop star.
Over 220,000 people have signed the petition, and when Carney was asked about the petition in question and whether the White House would respond to it or not, he just sighed and deferred.
“That process will occur, as is our commitment. There will be a response when the threshold is crossed. That response will come, I’m sure, relatively soon. I don’t have one now on matters related to visas. I would refer you to DHS.”
So you’re saying there’s a chance.
