Tom Brokaw: New Government With a Dem House and GOP Senate is ‘Gonna Look Ugly’

Tom Brokaw — arguably the most revered TV news anchor in America — has a bleak outlook for the United States government with a Democratic controlled House and a Republican Senate.

Appearing on NBC’s election coverage, the longtime NBC Nightly News anchor offered little in the way of optimism for how the government will function starting next January.

“It’s gonna look ugly,” Brokaw said. “We are two years away from a presidential election. There’s a lot of feeling ‘we need to get even with these guys’ on the Democratic side, talking about the Republicans. The Republicans are saying ‘Democrats are totally out of sync with the country and the values and what they stand for.’ So it’s going to be tough.”

Brokaw then invoked the man he deemed to be the wild card — special counsel Robert Mueller.

“We are in for a divided time for the next couple of years, at least, and hovering over all this as I said earlier, is the special prosecutor,” Brokaw said. “We don’t know what Robert Mueller is going to have to say.”
