Amid the cacophony of head-scratching and bewildering headlines that have flown fast and furiously out of the Trump administration in its first four days, you may have missed a curious little tidbit relating to our nation’s newest press secretary, Sean Spicer: he loves gum. Like, really loves gum.
In fact, it would appear as if Spicer chews and swallows upwards of 35 — no, that’s not a typo — pieces of Orbit Cinnamon gum every day; the press secretary even consulted a doctor about his habit, and was assured it was not dangerous.
But as Trevor Noah of The Daily Show mocked Tuesday night, “But is your doctor Donald Trump‘s doctor by any chance?” referring to the bizarre Dr. Harold Bornstein who once famously asserted that Trump if elected, “would be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency.”
Spicer was featured for Noah’s segment called “Profiles in Tremendousness,” further mocking the press secretary over his unwillingness to admit that the post-Obama unemployment rate is 4.7%.
After rolling a clip of Spicer’s side-step response from yesterday’s presser, Noah commented, “Wait, did he just say unemployment isn’t a number, it’s a feeling? This guy would be the worst ESPN reporter ever! And what a Super Bowl, Jim: Patriots-Falcons, final score: feeling good in America.'”
