Trump Asked Politico Magazine to Put Him on the Cover, Even Though He Blacklisted Politico

politico_logoHere’s an entry from Tuesday morning’s Playbook sure to raise a few eyebrows:

“Donald Trump’s campaign emailed POLITICO asking to order ‘Politico Magazine with Mr. Trump on the cover. Appreciate the help!’ Meanwhile, Trump’s campaign has blacklisted POLITICO and refuses to allow us entry into any campaign events.”

The Donald’s fondness for appearing on the covers of magazines is well documented, of course. Though his campaign’s decision to reach out to Politico is curious, given that he banned their reporters from covering a campaign event in March.

Trump’s camp blacklisted reporters from the site after it published a story reporting on then-campaign manager Corey Lewandowski’s history of uncouth remarks and unrestrained temper. (Lewandowski was dismissed from the campaign in June.)

Politico is one of a number of media outlets that Trump has blacklisted because he objected to their coverage, including Buzzfeed, The Daily Beast, The Huffington Post, Univision, and The Washington Post.
