Trump Buys 100% of Miss Universe from NBC; Says All Lawsuits Are Settled
Remember how NBC/Universal was one of the first organizations to condemn Donald Trump‘s inflammatory remarks by cutting ties and refusing to air the Miss America pageant? Well, Trump may have put an end to the feud by buying out the network’s half of the Miss Universe Organization, making him the complete owner.
Trump previously hosted the beauty pageants as well as The Apprentice on NBC for over a decade before launching his campaign in June. After his infamous remarks on how Mexico was sending its rapists and criminals into the country, the network followed Univision’s example by refusing to air the program, with later caused Trump to promise a lawsuit in retaliation.
CNN Money reported that a spokesman confirmed the purchase, but included no further details such as the transaction price. Trump announced on Twitter that he also settled his lawsuit with the network, and that further information would follow shortly:
Just purchased NBC’s half of The Miss Universe Organization and settled all lawsuits against them. Now own 100% — stay tuned!
