Donald Trump talked to CNN’s Don Lemon in an interview airing later tonight, and he said that it was his idea for Sarah Palin to talk about her son’s domestic violence arrest today.
In case you missed it, earlier this week Palin’s son Track––an Iraq veteran––was arrested on domestic violence charged, and at a Trump rally in Tulsa today, Palin brought it up and linked it to President Obama‘s supposed disrespect of veterans.
In a clip of the CNN interview released early, Lemon asked Trump if that was his idea. Trump said, “I told her it would be absolutely fine, I thought it would be appropriate.”
He said it’s very important to discuss the “tremendous problems” veterans face and then added that he “actually suggested it” to her in the first place.
Trump did not address––in this clip, at least––Palin linking her son’s arrest to the president.
