Trump in Dec 2012: GOP Needs to Seriously Address Immigration If They Want to Win
Immigration has become a major issue over the course of the 2016 race, but back in December 2012, Donald Trump talked about the need for Republicans to seriously address immigration reform.
CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski uncovered video from four years ago, when Trump called into Fox & Friends and said, of the GOP, “They cannot have what happened to them with immigration and other issues sabotage their elections.”
He called on Republicans to take the lead on immigration, because “they’re never gonna win another election unless they do something.”

Trump also made these remarks to Newsmax weeks after the 2012 election about how Republicans were hurting on immigration:
“The Democrats didn’t have a policy for dealing with illegal immigrants, but what they did have going for them is they weren’t mean-spirited about it,” Trump says. “They didn’t know what the policy was, but what they were is they were kind.”
