Trump Lawyer Ty Cobb: Trump’s Tweetstorm on Russia Probe ‘Unrelated to Activities of Special Counsel’
This morning, President Donald Trump unleashed a tweetstorm about the investigation into Russian election meddling and any potential collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign. The president complained about the lack of investigation into Hillary Clinton over issues such as the Steele dossier, Uranium One and her deleted emails while calling the probe a “Witch Hunt for evil politics.” He also claimed that it wasn’t a coincidence that the “Russia talk” was ramping up during the Republican push for tax cuts.
These tweets come in the wake of the reports that charges have been filed by Special Counsel Robert Mueller related to his Russia investigation and that the indictments will be made public on Monday. However, according to Trump’s attorney on all things Russia, Ty Cobb, Trump’s tweets had nothing at all to do with the recent Mueller news.
In an on-the-record statement given to reporters, Cobb said that the “tweets today from the president are not, as some have asked, a reaction to anything involving the special counsel with whom the White House continues to cooperate.”
Ty Cobb distances Trump tweets today from Mueller probe as "unrelated to activities of Special Counsel with whom he continues to cooperate."
