Trump NH Backer Defends Muslim Ban: No Different From ‘When We Put the Japanese in Camps’

A Trump New Hampshire campaign co-chair is defending Donald Trump on a Muslim entry ban by citing Japanese internment.

No, seriously.

Just for some background, after Trump made that insane proposal earlier today, New Hampshire State GOP chair Jennifer Horn strongly condemned it:

Well, in response, according to WMUR, two top Trump backers are pushing for Horn to resign her post because she’s not being neutral.

State Rep. Al Baldasaro, identified as the co-chair of Trump’s state veterans coalition, said, “She needs to resign because she has no clue. She’s my friend, but I have to separate that from the Republican Party.”

But when asked about Trump’s proposal itself, Baldasaro actually invoked Japanese internment:

“What he’s saying is no different than the situation during World War II, when we put the Japanese in camps,” Baldasaro, a Marine veteran, said. “The people who attacked innocent people in Paris came through open borders. From a military mind standpoint, all Donald Trump is saying is to do what needs to be done until we get a handle on how to do background checks.”
