WATCH: Here’s Every Trump Supporter This Week Who Claimed He’s Not ‘Running for Pope’
Let’s dispel with this fiction that Donald Trump is running to be the Pope. Donald Trump is not running to be the Pope.
At least that’s the message from the ensemble of supporters who appeared on TV over the past few days to set the record straight.
After video from 2005 leaked of the then-reality TV star boasting about exploiting and assaulting women, the corps of Trump surrogates got the message out loud and clear: The sort of behavior on display in the tape is not actually relevant to the election, because Trump is not running to be leader of the Catholic Church. (He is only running to be leader of the free world.)
The array of talking heads who wanted to clear up this papal/presidential confusion includes Carl Higbee; Nigel Farage, leader of the UK Independence Party; Vicki Sciolaro, Republican official from Kansas; Andy Dean, former president of Trump Productions; and Dr. Ben Carson.
