Trump: ‘There Are No Mixed Messages’ From Our Administration on North Korea

President Donald Trump took questions from reporters this afternoon at his golf course in Bedminster, New Jersey, and was pressed at one point about the different responses being given by segments of his administration over the issue of North Korea.

Asked whether there were mixed messages being sent out, considering that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson seems to be advocating for diplomacy while Defense Secretary James Mattis is calling for a military solution, Trump claimed they were all on the same page.

“There are no mixed messages,” Trump exclaimed. “There are no mixed messages. To be honest, General Mattis may have taken a step beyond what I said. There are no mixed messages. Rex was just stating the views.”

He added that North Korea should be “very nervous” if they think about attacking the United States or any of America’s allies.

Trump’s remarks come two days after his provocative “fire and fury” rant towards the North Koreans. Since then, North Korea has stated they are seriously considering a plan to strike Guam and openly mocked the president’s comments.
