Trump to Hold a ‘Major Rally’ For Ted Cruz at the ‘Biggest Stadium in Texas’

President Donald Trump announced on Friday a “major rally” with Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) that will apparently take place in “the biggest stadium in Texas.”

“I will be doing a major rally for Senator Ted Cruz in October,” Trump tweeted. “I’m picking the biggest stadium in Texas we can find. As you know, Ted has my complete and total Endorsement.”

Trump concluded his tweet with a jab at Beto O’Rourke, Cruz’s Democratic opponent in the upcoming midterm elections: “His opponent is a disaster for Texas – weak on Second Amendment, Crime, Borders, Military, and Vets!”

Trump’s relationship with Cruz has been a contentious one. During the 2016 campaign the pair were bitter rivals, and Trump falsely accused Rafael Cruz, Ted’s father, of being involved in JFK’s assassination. Trump also trashed Ted Cruz’s wife Heidi for her looks, and threatened to “spill the beans” on her.

Cruz responded by calling Trump a “sniveling coward,” a “pathological liar,” “utterly amoral” and a “serial philanderer.”

The Texas senator eventually endorsed Trump in September 2016, and wrote a fawning profile of him for Time Magazine‘s feature on the 100 most influential people of 2018.
