As the dust began to settle between Mike Pence and Tim Kaine last night, plenty of people determined that Pence walked away with the stronger showing. Trump expressed agreement on Twitter this morning, and today, he lauded the Indiana governor for having the “single most decisive victory in the history of vice presidential debates.”

“Mike Pence did an incredible job and I’m getting a lot of credit because that was my first so-called choice,” Trump said.
The victory should be received well by Trump supporters, and it may serve as a relief from the general consensus that Trump lost his first debate against Hillary Clinton.
There was a lot of intrigue back in July about whether Trump would make Pence his running mate, which was compounded by indications that the mogul had second thoughts about Pence and tried to get out of publicly selecting him back then.
