Trump Touts Today Show Interview: ‘Bob Woodward Is a Liar’ Who Was ‘Caught Cold, Even by NBC’

President Donald Trump touted Savanah Guthrie‘s interview with Bob Woodward on the Today show Monday morning, claiming the Washington Post reporter was “caught cold” by NBC News.

Guthrie pressed Woodward about his book, Fear, noting that Trump often calls unflattering coverage “fake news.”

“It is mostly anonymous sources in here, why should people trust you?” Guthrie asked. Woodward replied that the incidents described in his book are “not anonymous” but specific.

Guthrie followed up by noting that some of Woodward’s subjects, including White House Chief of Staff John Kelly and Defense Secretary James Mattis, have denied the quotes attributed to them.

“Are they lying?” Guthrie asked. “They are not telling the truth,” Woodward replied.

Trump tweeted about the interview on Monday morning, misquoting Guthrie but offering a backhanded compliment of her questioning.

“It is mostly anonymous sources in here, why should anyone trust you? General Mattis, General Kelly said it’s not true.” @SavannahGuthrie @TODAYshow Bob Woodward is a liar who is like a Dem operative prior to the Midterms. He was caught cold, even by NBC.

Woodward’s exposé on the Trump administration drops tomorrow, and this is Trump’s second tweet of the day promoting it.
