During a rally tonight, Donald Trump again trashed the Trans-Pacific Partnership and called it a “rape of our country.”
Trump has been attacking Hillary Clinton on trade for a while now. He promised today he would withdraw the U.S. from the TPP deal, and eagerly pounced on a video of Clinton, who is against TPP now, calling it the “gold standard” of trade agreements years ago.
Trump declared that Clinton doesn’t know how to bring American jobs back, calling her “totally overrated” and again firing up the crowd by saying he won’t allow the U.S. to be partner to the deal.
And then he said this:
“Another disaster done and pushed by special interests who just want to rape our country. A continuing rape of our country. That’s what it is, too. It’s a harsh word. It’s a rape of our country.”
It just so happens that Bernie Sanders has been just as harsh on TPP, and attacking Clinton on it, too, so perhaps this is yet another way of appealing to his supporters.
