Trump Reportedly Ordered Promotion of Giuliani’s Son, John Kelly Revoked His West Wing Access Instead
You’re probably reading that headline thinking, “Wait, Rudy Giuliani‘s son works in the Trump administration?” And… yes he does.
Andrew Giuliani has worked in the White House Office of Public Liaison since last year, so it perhaps comes as no surprise that the subject came up during a dinner with his father.
And per Axios’s Jonathan Swan, not only did Trump and Giuliani talk about Andrew as they dined at Mar-a-Lago, but Trump subsequently ordered his promotion.
Now, that never actually happened because of… John Kelly:
Kelly and others, including Office of Public Liaison director Justin Clark, won’t promote Andrew because they think he “subverts the chain of command” and claim he had other issues in the workplace that they weren’t happy about, according to two sources familiar with the situation… According to a source familiar, Kelly took away Andrew’s blue visitor’s pass about two weeks ago, revoking his West Wing access. He now only has a green pass, which means he can’t enter the West Wing without an escort.
The elder Giuliani, of course, has been part of President Trump’s legal team for weeks now, and he’s captured tons of media attention for his off-the-cuff commentary on not just the Mueller probe but on a whole host of topics ranging from Stormy Daniels to how the President can’t be indicted even if he, say, shot James Comey.
