Tucker Carlson on Comey: ‘This Firing Was Overdue and Everyone in Washington Knows It’
At the top of his program tonight, Fox News host Tucker Carlson weighed in on the day’s huge news, and let it be known that it is his belief that when it is all said and done, everyone knows it was something that needed to happen.
Starting off the show by hitting on the firing of FBI Director James Comey, Tucker pointed out that it didn’t take long for Democrats to criticize the move before explaining how necessary it was.
“Several Democratic senators have already predictably called the firing Nixonian as if you’re watching something during watergate, but you are not,” Carlson stated. “This firing was overdue and everyone in Washington knows it.”
The conservative commentator went on to highlight instances where he felt Comey inserted himself into things he should have stayed out of, such as offering commentary on the Hillary Clinton email investigation while simultaneously recommending no charges. He also brought up public remarks he’s made in connection with the Trump/Russia investigations.
“Comey was unfit for the office he held and the president should have canned him the afternoon of the inauguration, but he didn’t,” Carlson said towards the end of his monologue.
