It was supposed to be the biggest moment of the night.
The potential next First Lady of the United States was set to take the stage at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio to humanize her real estate mogul husband. In fact, the opening night speech by Melania Trump at the Republican National Convention was the cornerstone of the night, warranting a brief (but insanely memorable) appearance by the candidate himself.
However, it quickly devolved into controversy as it was discovered that sections of Mrs. Trump’s speech appear to have been lifted from the 2008 Democratic National Convention address by Michelle Obama.
While the campaign plays cover up and chairman Paul Manafort frantically appears on the morning shows to turn it into a nontroversy, social media is having a frenzy of its own with the hashtag #FamousMelaniaTrumpQuotes.
