TX GOP Candidate Rips Primary Opponent with Bizarre ‘Let It Go’ Parody

Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst faces off tonight in a roundtable debate against Texas State Sen. Dan Patrick, a former conservative radio host and the surprise victor in a Republican primary election in March. Dewhurst’s campaign is apparently taking the challenge posed by Patrick seriously… but not too seriously.

In a web ad released by Dewhurst’s campaign on Wednesday, the regularly-parodied hit song “Let it Go,” from Disney’s Frozen, is sung by a caricature of Patrick in which he reveals that his real name is Danny Goeb. While that is the only revelation in the humorous negative ad, the spot also features footage from Patrick’s radio past that shows him engaged in some rather silly activities.

The Dewhurst campaign is pulling out all the stops. It remains to be seen whether that will be enough. The runoff primary election that will settle who the Texas GOP’s next lieutenant governor nominee is will be held on May 27.
