Uber will offer free and discounted rides to LGBT centers and other historical and cultural sites important to the LGBT movement across some 40 cities in the U.S. and Canada this weekend.
The company wrote in a series of statements:
Like people across the world, we were deeply shocked and saddened by the recent murders at a gay nightclub in Orlando. The world is a brighter and better place when we are all free to be ourselves. And we want to bring people together, no matter who you are or where you’re from.
Each city has a particular set of locations to and from which a $20 discount will be applied automatically. Locations in New York include the Stonewall Inn and in San Francisco include the Harvey Milk Plaza.
In addition to New York and San Francisco, cities include D.C., Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Charleston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Tampa Bay, Toronto, New Orleans, Miami, Los Angeles, and more. The offer is valid from noon local time on Friday until midnight on Monday night.
