Larossi Abballa pledged allegiance to Islamic State after murdering a French senior policeman and his partner in their home. He used a knife.
During a three-hour standoff with police, while inside his victims’ home in Magnanville, Abballa recorded a 12-minute video and streamed it on Facebook live.
In the video he expressed his motivations, told viewers that the police were outside, and pondered what to do with the three-year-old whom he had just orphaned. At the end of the video, he said, “I finish by addressing my family … I am going to make your hearts stop, but you should know this is a noble mission. You have never understood my path … But this is the path of a prophet.”
Abballa was killed in a SWAT raid that rescued the slain couple’s son, who was not harmed.
Prosecutors say Abballa “had a hit list of high-profile targets that included police, politicians, journalists, rappers and other public figures,” according to Sky News.
In the video, Abballa called on supporters to turn the Euro 2016 soccer tournament, which just began in France and will continue until July 10, into a “graveyard.”
