This week Donald Trump received a Purple Heart from a veteran, and rather than saying he didn’t deserve such an honor, he accepted it and said he always wanted one, and this was the “easy” way.
Well, another veteran who’s very displeased by Trump’s actions set up a GoFundMe page to send a message. The page is titled “Help Trump Get a Purple Heart.”
Its goal? To raise $50,000 to help Trump earn one the hard way:
[A]s a Purple Heart recipient… who earned one the old-fashioned way by returning from Afghanistan one leg lighter, I fully endorse his desire to earn one and would happily oblige his interest in doing so, by being one of the first to chip in to fly him to the conflict zone of his choosing. After all, you’re never too old to follow your dreams.
The page, set up by Cameron Kerr has already raised over $24,000.
The fundraiser––which is going by #PurpleTrumpsOrange––isn’t really going to be raising money to make Trump fight, but is instead directing the funds raised to “a good cause that Donald Trump would vehemently oppose: aiding Syrian refugees.”
The International Rescue Committee, the Syrian American Medical Society, and Refugees Welcome International will all be receiving one-third of the proceeds.
