Watch College Kids React in Shock to Hillary’s Previous Positions on Gay Marriage
It was only months ago that members of President Barack Obama’s administration, including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, were less supportive of the rights of gay and lesbian Americans to marry than they are today. But the country’s youngest voters may not be familiar with Clinton’s past statements on the issues of same-sex marriage.
To test that theory, MRC TV’s Dan Joseph traveled to George Mason University’s campus where he found that a number of college students were shocked to learn of things Clinton had said in the past about the issue of gay marriage.
When Joseph read what Clinton said in 2000 about the religious foundations of marriage and how that this institution existed only between “a man and a woman,” most of the students said that this quote was attributable to a religious conservative. Some of the students said they would not be happy if someone with those views was invited to speak on campus.
Some of the students were shocked to learn that Clinton said those words, but not all. “That doesn’t surprise me, because I know her and Obama like to flip their sides on how they feel about gay marriage,” one student said.
