President Donald Trump will hold a press conference today alongside three heads of state from the Baltic region of Europe. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:35 p.m. ET.
President Kersti Kaljulaid of Estonia, President Raimonds Vejonis of Latvia, and President Dalia Grybauskaite of Lithuania will meet with Trump today to talk about national alliances and the state of affairs regarding the U.S. and NATO. Since the three leaders are all from countries that used to be under Soviet rule, it is likely that they will want to talk about Russian international aggression. Trump has been very reluctant to speak negatively about Vladimir Putin, so this will probably be a touchy subject for him — especially with the Kremlin’s recent claim that the Russian president was invited to the White House.
When Trump takes questions, it’s possible that he’ll be asked about his slams on the political media in defense of Sinclair Broadcasting Group. The company is still facing a great deal of controversy over their campaign to have local TV news stations deliver scripted talking points against the media. Trump has reacted to the scandal by taking shots at the “fake news” again and complaining about their “sick and biased agenda.”
Another potential topic? Trump’s escalating war with Amazon and Jeff Bezos. For the last few days, Trump has fumed that Amazon cheats the American tax system by taking advantage of the postal service, and that Washington Post should be recognized as Bezos’ personal lobbying firm. This feud has already had a considerable impact on the stock market, and Trump reportedly plans to go beyond the rhetoric on Twitter.
Other subjects that might come up in questioning include; Stormy Daniels, Trump’s recent anti-Mexico/DACA rhetoric, and whether embattled EPA chief Scott Pruitt will remain in the Administration.
