WATCH LIVE: Trump Holds Rally for Ted Cruz in Texas Ahead of Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump will be in Houston, TX tonight to rally on behalf of Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) ahead of the midterm elections. The speech is expected to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Trump is hoping to give Cruz a boost in his election race against Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX). But with the president’s freewheeling style and history with Cruz, there’s no telling what could happen.

Trump spoke to White House reporters earlier today and insisted that he and Cruz are on good terms despite the bruising contest the two ran against each other in 2016. Trump said that he calls Cruz “Beautiful Ted” now – a departure from his old “Lyin’ Ted” insult – though he isn’t taking back any of the other harsh attacks he used in the race for the White House.

Most notably, Trump said he doesn’t regret his groundless claim that Cruz’s father was somehow involved in the assassination of former president John F. Kennedy.

Since Trump has been heating up his border security and immigration rhetoric in the last few days, it’s possible he’ll use tonight’s speech to rail against the migrant caravan approaching the U.S. Southern border. Trump is once again blaming Democrats over the current state of immigration law, but today, he’s drawn more attention from the media over his claim that “unknown Middle Easterners” are mixing in with the caravan. Trump has not presented any evidence for his assertion, which is currently being scrutinized among critics and political observers.
