TNT’s Inside The NBA crew — considered by many to be the best pregame studio show cast in sports television — took 10 minutes at the beginning of their first post-election broadcast to process the election of Donald Trump as President.
Charles Barkley, the star of the show for the past 15 years, said that he was “shellshocked” by Trump’s election. He added that he was disappointed by the outcome, but he wanted to move on.
“It’s over now,” Barkley said. “He’s going to be the President of the United States. We have to respect the office. And we have to give him a chance.”
Barkley added of Trump: “Everything he said is water under the bridge.”
Ernie Johnson, the show’s host, discussed the election through the prism of his Christian faith during an uninterrupted two minute monologue.
“I’m going to pray for Donald Trump,” Johnson said. “I’m going to pray for all those people who feel like they’re on the outside looking in, who are afraid at this point. I pray for them too. In short, I’m praying for America. And I’m praying that one day, we’re going to look back and say ‘You know what? That Donald Trump Presidency? That was all right.'”
