WATCH: Ted Cruz REALLY Loves Queso and the Feeling of it ‘Dribbling Down Your Chin’
While gaggling with reporters today on Capitol Hill, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) was asked about what makes queso so great, and he proceeded to deliver a passionate monologue on the cheese sauce.
In video captured by Dallas Morning News reporter Jordan Rudner, Cruz just couldn’t contain his excitement for the food stuff.
“It just tastes good,” Cruz explained. “It speaks to the soul. Good queso relaxes you.”
The Texas lawmaker then informed the gathered press just how many different ways you can utilize the gooey substance, comparing it to regular ol’ cheese dip.

“Look, cheese dip can be served on a Ritz cracker,” Cruz said. “Or with one of those tiny Vienna sausages.”
And, apparently, the one-time presidential candidate really likes the idea of the cheese sullying his clothes.
“Queso is made to be scooped up with tortilla chips, dribbling down your chin and onto your shirt,” he excitedly noted.
Apparently, this whole episode derived from a blind taste test conducted by Senate Republicans in which queso from Texas was defeated by cheese dip from Arkansas.
