WATCH: The View’s Raven Shares Her Coming Out Story in It Got Better Docuseries Segment

Raven-Symoné is someone whose face you’ve been able to recognize for decades thanks to her stint on The Cosby Show when she was just a toddler. She has also starred in That’s So RavenThe Cheetah GirlsDr. Dolittle, College Road Trip, and now, Mediaite’s favorite daytime talkshow, The View.

Her sexuality was an open secret for a long time and while she rarely discusses it, she did sit down with the documentarians behind It Got Better, the series that launched from the LGBT advocacy-focused It Gets Better campaign, to share her coming out story. Courtesy of Entertainment Tonight, here is an exclusive clip of her segment:

At one point, she admitted, “I never thought I would come out because my personal life didn’t matter. It was only what was supposed to be sold as the Raven-Symoné brand.”

The third season of It Got Better also features Sir Ian McKellen, Candis Cayne, Adam Lambert, EJ Johnson, and Wanda Sykes.

The season launches tomorrow on L/Studio, Lexus’ digital content channel.
