WATCH: This Basket by the Louisville Women’s Hoops Team is an Absolute Stroke of Genius
This was a stroke of genius.
Louisville women’s basketball coach Jeff Walz — who’s appeared on our radar before for his rant against “participation trophies” — did his best to ensure that his team didn’t have to settle for one in Monday night’s game against Duke by drawing up a wonderfully clever play.
It happened at the start of the third quarter; Louisville was given the ball at mid-court to start the second half. All of their players lined up near one basket. The Duke players joined them on that side of the court.
But Louisville was playing to the other basket. They inbounded the ball, and Louisville’s Mariya Moore put it in for an easy bucket.
This play will probably never work again, but kudos to Walz and the team for pulling it off successfully on Monday.
