A soccer player for a Czech soccer team is being hailed as a hero for saving the life of the opposing goalkeeper after a scary on-field collision.
According to the Associated Press, Francis Kone — a player for the Czech team Slovacko — reacted quickly after colliding with Martin Borkovec, the goalie for the Bohemians, a rival club. Borkovec collided with a teammate prior to running into Kone, and the impact from both was quite scary.
Kone quickly reached into Borkovec’s mouth and made sure he didn’t swallow his tongue. Kone tended to Borkovec until he medical personnel arrived.
Remarkably, per the AP story, Kone says the incident was actually the fourth time he’s saved another player under similar circumstances.
“I would like to say thanks to God for having removed a colleague from the worst because without him we would know today invaded of regrettable thoughts,” Kone wrote on Facebook. He added, “I hope that Martin…will recover quickly to regain the football field.”
