Tomi Lahren denounced Obamacare during her appearance at Politicon this weekend, but she also admitted that she benefits from one of the core components of the Affordable Care Act.
Lahren squared off against Chelsea Handler, and the two discussed the latest failed effort by Congressional Republicans to reform health care. As the two debated limited government and alternatives to the current system, Lahren said she has health insurance though her parents because she’s only 24 years old.
“Do you have a health care plan or no?” asked Handler. “Well luckily, I’m 24, so I am still on my parents’ [plan]” Lahren responded.
Under Obamacare, Americans are allowed to stay on their parents’ plans until they turn 26. Lahren got quite a few boos after her admission, though Handler told the audience to stop because “she’s being honest.”
Lahren said the Affordable Care Act has positive aspects like the 26 year cut-off date, but she continued to argue that Obamacare is heading into a “death spiral.” Handler retorted that President Trump and others are “sabotaging” Obamacare, and the best step for the country would be to find a way to make the current system work better.
Other topics brought up during the exchange include Trump’s transgender military announcement, the president’s Twitter habits, and Lahren and Handler’s thoughts about rapper 50 Cent.
