Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will hold a briefing today to discuss the White House’s latest plans and administrative agenda. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. EST.
Sanders is likely to talk about President Trump‘s continued interest in the latest bill for tax reform. Trump gave a speech on this topic yesterday in Missouri, where he waxed on about how the bill’s proposals will supposedly lead to job creation, tax reductions and economic rejuvenation. Based on the recent statements from several GOP holdouts and wild cards, there’s a solid probability that the bill will succeed in a senate vote.
Sanders will probably face a lot of questions today about Trump’s recent decision to share unverified clips from an anti-Muslim British extremist on Twitter. Trump’s retweets were condemned by various members of the British government, and it spiraled into a diplomatic incident after he was also criticized by Prime Minister Theresa May. Sanders previously defended Trump’s tweeting by saying Islamic extremism is a real threat even if the videos were false, though quite a few political observers have slammed that rationale as inadequate.
Other topics that might come up include Trump’s revival of conspiracy theories about Joe Scarborough, the reports that Rex Tillerson could be replaced as Secretary of State, and Trump’s questions about the authenticity of his Access Hollywood tape and Barack Obama‘s birth certificate.
