‘We’ve Recovered a Butcher Knife. The Suspect Is DOA’: Ohio State Gives Updates on Campus Attack
Several representatives with Ohio State University held a press conference moments ago with the latest information from Monday morning’s on-campus attack that left one suspect dead.
University President Dr. Michael Drake sent his best wishes to those injured in the attack — upwards of ten people in total — and said of the suspect, “The driver got out and used a weapon to cut several people who were then transported to several hospitals.”
The suspect was killed by law enforcement at the scene. Dr. Drake said of the victims, “We are looking forward to their full and complete recovery,” before turning his commendation onto the first responders and law enforcement agencies.
A vehicle struck pedestrians this morning at about 9:52 local time, and the suspect who emerged from the car “cut multiple individuals,” according to the press conference before being engaged with by police. Monica Moll, the director of campus public safety, told reporters that the first Buckeye Alert to student’s phone went out at 9:55 a.m.
“We believe that injured were minimized as a result,” of the quick action of law enforcement, said Moll.
