What Offensive Plaque Did the Royals Hide From the Obamas During Their London Visit?
Last week was a good one for anyone who is interested in Britain’s Royal Family or America’s First Family because they joined forces. They hung out in the Kensington Palace apartment that Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and Prince William, Duke of Cambridge occupy when they’re in London and we got some very cute photos out of it.
As it turns out, things could have taken a turn for the not-so-cute if an assistant hadn’t noticed a plaque on the wall just minutes before President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama walked in.
According to the Daily Mail, one of the paintings the duchess, who has a degree in art history, selected for her sitting room is a famous piece called “The Negro Page” and the plaque beneath it was hastily torn off the wall in preparation for the Obamas’ visit. A potted plant was stuck in front of the space where the plaque used to be.
Crisis avoided! Except for the part where this made news and the Obamas will definitely read about it later!
