The ladies of The View were in shock that Donald Trump bragged about getting Face the Nation its highest ratings since 9/11.
They weren’t alone, of course. The news that Trump had used an AP interview to make that statement hit the Internet with serious force yesterday. Whoopi Goldberg, though, was still more than willing to keep the conversation going today on ABC’s afternoon show.
“[The] misinformation keeps spewing, so in an Associated Press interview — where he couldn’t resist slamming the ‘fake media’ and he bragged that his appearance on Face the Nation gave them the best ratings since the World Trade Center fell on 9/11 — you know what man? That’s sacrosanct. You don’t use 9/11 to bolster yourself. What the hell?”
Sunny Hostin agreed, calling it “so bizarre.”
“How tone-deaf can you be, to now brag about your ratings about that tragedy? It’s unbelievable,” said Joy Behar.
The panel went on to slam the entire interview, which was filled with brackets denoting portions of Trump’s speech that were unintelligible. Sara Haines pointed out that even when the words were transcribable, they didn’t make sense. For her part, Jedediah Bila was horrified by how easily Trump was willing to admit to the AP that he entered the presidency unprepared for what it would involve.
Watch the whole thing above.
