Shortly after losing to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 on Saturday, Nate Diaz sat on the dais at the post-fight news conference and began smoking from a vape pen.
A reporter asked him what he was smoking.
“CBD oil,” he said, or cannabidiol.
Yes, Nate Diaz smoked this right in front of reporters, and identified exactly what it was.
Now, he may be in trouble for it. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that USADA, which tests UFC fighters for drugs, “is currently gathering information in order to determine the appropriate next steps,” said USADA spokesman Ryan Madden.
Diaz said he smokes CBD because it helps him heal after a fight. He’d already taken a post-fight drug test, but he still may be subject to a suspension of up to one year, according to the Review-Journal report.
