The White House has been put into a state of emergency on Tuesday, and the Secret Service announced on Twitter that they are investigating a “suspicious package” in the area.

Reports indicate that the package was discovered near the North Lawn, and the lockdown prompted the Secret Service to lead everyone on the grounds into the White House. One America News Network White House correspondent Trey Yingst posted multiple photos and updates from the scene to Twitter:

UPDATE – 12:27 p.m. EST: The lockdown was lifted at approximately 11:30 a.m. The Secret Service announced that they have taken a suspect into custody, and that they have removed the road closures they had in place for the immediate area.
