White House’s Most Popular Video of 2014: Obama Walking, Just Walking
According to the White House, the American public was somewhat interested in watching President Barack Obama give the State of the Union, but way more interested in watching him taking a casual stroll through a park like he was a normal.
The video, which depicts Obama spontaneously walking through Washington D.C.’s Ellipse and hanging out with tourists, is the most weirdly staged event the White House has put on, but apparently, it resonated the most: in a post reviewing 2014’s most popular YouTube videos, “Raw Video: The President Takes a Surprise Walk” got 4,998,326 views, because people were incredibly fascinated with Obama “catching people by surprise,” like some sort of Candid Camera guy.
The runners-up included a celebrity PSA on sexual assault (1,580,872 views), the President announcing his plan to grant legal status to millions of undocumented immigrants (460,656 views), and Michelle Obama condemning Boko Haram’s kidnapping of hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls (1,300,137 views). You know, stuff not as important as Obama walking through a park.
