Wildfire Survivor From Viral Video Recounts Her Harrowing Escape: ‘We Didn’t Know What Was Coming Next’

Brynn Parrott Chatfield — whose family’s car ride through the flames last week in Paradise, CA has gone viral, racking up nearly four million views on Facebook — is speaking out about the harrowing escape.

Appearing on CNN’s New Day, Parrott Chatfield — who filmed the video — told host Alisyn Camerota that she couldn’t see in front of them, and didn’t know what was coming next.

“We were scared for our lives,” Parrott Chatfield said. “We thought maybe our tires would melt. We didn’t know what was coming next in those big dark things. We didn’t know what was in front of us. It was scary. It was scary for the whole town.”

Though her family made it successfully out (including her three children, who escaped a half hour earlier), they did lose their home in the fire — and her husband’s dental office was lost as well.

“We’re kind of living hour-by-hour, or day-by-day just trying to decide what we want to do next,” Parrott Chatfield said. “We’re looking into using some space in Chico for my husband to work. We’re not really quite sure where we’re going to stay. There’s just so many unknowns right now for everybody.”
